Do you do flat rate pricing?
Absolutely we do flat rate pricing, particularly when the project calls for it. We welcome that conversation.
Do you do fractional leadership?
Absolutely it is something we are approached with and consider when the right fit is there. We affectionately call it going ‘in house’
Do you work with small-scale organizations or only large operations?
We’re dedicated to making community change, which is going to take all of us. Pineapple Flags works with organizations and governments of all sizes.
Do you do shorter, time sensitive, piece work
We absolutely do! However, we give priority to our clients on longer term retainers when it comes to time sensitive work so be sure to inquire early.
We're not a gender-equity organization, do you still provide support to us?
The amazing thing about working in gender-equity is that we take an intersectional approach, meaning we are showing up intentionally for people across marginalization(s). This also means we can help your organization craft stronger solutions especially if your mandate reaches beyond equity specifically.
Becuase you take a networked approach will I have a chance to meet other people you are working on my project with?
We actually prefer for the full team to know the client and their needs and have a relationship with them. We know it’s important that we use the dollars you have to give you the best work possible and part of that is knowing that you can trust the team around your project.
Do you do longer-term retainers for ongoing work?
We do offer out longer-term retainer options with specific benefits to the client on an invite basis. If you are interested you are welcome to inquire.
We have a complex problem but don’t know where to start. Can you help?
Don’t feel pressure to come with all the answers! Part of our approach is to start with your immediate goals with the project, your longer term goals as an agency and the pain points and barriers in your way. From there we can create a strategy of change together and map out the most high impact work we can help with that will help you to get you to your end goal.
Do we need to have a project scope figured out before we reach out?
We welcome open inquiries where we can explore best options together and start to define scope and we also offer general calls where we can spend a half hour getting to know each other before diving into details.
How does Pineapple Flags build equity into its work?
We approach equity by looking directly at the systems, structures and policies that create and reinforce inequity. We use an intersectional and human rights lens to understand how power, identity and systems shape people’s experiences and access to opportunity. We centre the knowledge of people most affected by the issues we are working on and build meaningful community engagement into the work from the beginning.
We continuously question and critically reflect on our own assumptions, social locations and privilege, listen to what communities are telling us, and use that insight to shape practical solutions and lasting systems change.
How do you ensure community engagement is meaningful and not extractive?
We believe people should have a meaningful role in shaping the decisions that affect their lives, not simply be asked to share their experiences and then sent home.
We approach engagement with care, transparency and respect and rooted it in action. So much so it is always a condition we explore when we consider taking on engagement work. For us, meaningful engagement isn’t about collecting input. It’s about sharing power, building trust, and making sure people can see themselves in what comes next.
Can you work within an existing project budget?
Always ask. We are flexible folks who want to see your work get ahead. If you are constrained by finances and budgets let’s explore some solutions. Often in these situations opportunity will emerge.
